北京オリンピックが終わった。テレビをつけるとキャスターが「次はロンドン」、解団式でも団長の挨拶は「次はロンドン」、首相官邸でも「次はロンドン」。中には、レースが終わった直後の汗も拭かないままの選手に、「次はロンドン」と切り出すリポーターもいた。
日本人は、みんな口を揃えて「がんばれ、がんばれ」と簡単に言う。

If you turn on TV, they say “now the London olympic?”, at the farewell ceremony of japanese olympic athletes, the cheif administrative said “now the London…”, even at the press conference at prime ministry’s house, he said “now the London…”. It seems no one admits great jobs done by those athletes, but only expects more and more. Some of the reporters who have no sense of delicacy even slipped “now the London” phrase when interviewing to an athlete who had just finished his race.
Japanese people keep saying the phrase “keep it up! what’s the next?”. It might be a form of modesty, but it gave me only an impression of pushing, ugly, poor and greedy mentality of them. You can not enjoy and let them enjoy their achievement even a moment?
It is no question that all the athletes at the Olympic game had done a great job what we as a common citizen can not achieve, wheather got a medal or not.

違うのは、ガーディアン（英）が国名を「Burma」とし、インターナショナル・ヘラルド・トリビューン（米）は「Myanmar」としているところ。
「ミャンマー」出身の友人は「ビルマ」を使っていた。

On the front page of Guardian and International Herald Tribune, they reported the tragedy of cyclone which hit “Myanmar”. The difference is, on Guardian, they took “Burma” as its name, and “Myanmar” on International Herald Tribune.
A friend of mine from “Myanmar” used to say she was from “Burma”.
